Datsusara MMA was founded in 2007 with a singular goal, to make truly functional, high quality MMA gear. Datsusara is not about taking cheap generic gear and simply rebranding it. Our gear is specifically designed for the Mixed Martial Artist's needs, it is made from the best materials, often using hemp. Hemp is the most durable natural textile fiber, while also being porous and anti-microbial. Datsusara gear is designed by Chris Odell and his MMA gym buddies (special thanks to ModCom-SBGI ). Chris has been a fan of "tactical gear" for many years, so he decided to integrate that level of quality and functionality into custom gear for MMA.
What does Datsusara mean? Datsusara (dat-su-sa-ra) is a Japanese phrase meaning "to leave the salaried/corporate worker's life". Christopher Kimura Odell founded Datsusara because as an avid MMA participant he couldn't find gear that met his needs. His desire to have quality gear led him “to leave the salaried workers life” behind and follow his passion to build a company that provides MMA enthusiasts with the best possible gear. The Datsusara lifestyle means spending most of your time doing the things you love to do, like MMA, and we'll supply the gear to support you.
